Runway 7’s 10th season anniversary gala night opened with designer Naeem Khan who is known for dressing some of the worlds’ most prominent figures, being presented with an Excellence in Design award for his dedication to fashion. He reflected on his journey in his speech and expressed his gratitude to the Runway 7 team for their support.
Following Khan’s award acceptance was an electric and immersive performance from Glammo Production, a performance art theatre group based in Brooklyn New York. Glammo’s roster consists of a curated ensemble of singers and dancers trained by highly distinguished choreographers in the industry, some even hailing from Vaganova’s Academy of Russian Ballet. Their Avant Garde performance served as an artistic and meaningful bridge between the award ceremony of a fashion icon and the designer showcases planned for the evening.
The production company is known for putting on a diverse repertoire of modern cabaret shows. These performances are distinguished by their elements of glamour, burlesque, whimsy and an intense flair for the dramatic.
Each show is meticulously designed to ensure a perfect synergy between the atmosphere and conceptual theme of the space in which it is performed. Their dedication to customizing every detail from the costumes, choreography, musical score, and even the lighting is evident in each iteration of their performances. Each and every viewing is handcrafted to be a truly unique and mesmerizing experience.
The art deco styled Sony Hall with intricate gold starburst details and hands for door knobs was clearly taken into careful consideration by the dance troupe with the crafting of their outfits. Glammo opted for costumes that more closely reflected those of the Rococo era with light and airy pastel colored romance themed prints, corsets, fringe trimming, and bustles under their skirts. The two styles perfectly complemented each other where at times one could imagine that the dancers were once part of the original decor that suddenly came to life.
